Norman Samuel Spencer

Norman Samuel Spencer    
Norman Samuel Spencer was born on February 25, 1846 in Angola, Steuben, Indiana.  His father was Julius H. Spencer and his mother was Sarah Perry

Norman Samuel Spencer married Leah C. Stutes, on December 30, 1869 in Olathe, Johnson, Kansas.

Norman and Leah had 5 children
1. George Emmett Spencer: May 23, 1872 - January 23, 1873
2. Marcus Perry Spencer: April 1 1874 - ?
3. Julius H. Spencer: February 6, 1876 - ?
4. Orpha May Spencer: December 2,1877 - June 15, 1956
5. Alta Spencer: March 17, 1881 - ?  

Norman Samuel Spencer died March 1914 in Redondo Beach, Los Angeles, California 
According to the 1860 Federal Census, Norman Samuel 14 years old was living with his siblings, and both parents in Steuben Township, Steuben, Indiana.

This is just one year before the civil war.  There isn't any records of Spencer's from Steuben serving in the civil war. 

According to the 1880 U.S. Federal Census Norman lived in the Steuben Township of Steuben, Indiana.  With Leah his wife, and his children.  The census said he was a farmer.    

Norman and Leah moved to Redondo Beach, Leah died in 1909, and in 1910 according to the Federal Census, he was living with his daughter Orpha May, and her husband Robert Wilson in Redondo Beach.
